Alison first became involved with the club by supporting the Board with administration, despite not being a golfer at the time. Within months she became a member, took up the game and, in 2024, was elected as Halifax Golf Club's first female Chair. Since then, she has helped drive the club's vision of becoming "One Club", creating a culture where members are not defined by gender, age, handicap or ability. Through a combination of governance reform, inclusive leadership and a willingness to challenge traditional ways of working, the club has introduced more open competitions, encouraged greater female representation in team golf, and created a more welcoming environment for all members.
Alison will be speaking about Halifax Golf Club's journey to growing women's participation through culture change and inclusive leadership, sharing how establishing strong foundations and the right governance has enabled initiatives such as the club's 'Couch to Course' programme, delivered in partnership with England Golf, to succeed.
