
Professor Charlie Foster OBE is an internationally recognised public health and physical activity scientist with a distinguished career spanning academia, policy, advocacy and the golf industry.
An Honorary Professor of Public Health and Physical Activity at the University of Bristol Medical School and the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, he has published more than 350 papers and advised organisations including WHO, NICE, the European Commission and UK governments. He also founded and was the Director of the UK NICE Centre of Evidence for Physical Activity and Exercise for over a decade.
Awarded an OBE for services to physical activity research and promotion, Charlie brings deep expertise in the links between sport, health and wellbeing. His work in golf includes authoring health guidance, contributing to R&A and England Golf publications, and speaking at major industry events, including the 2023 R&A’s Future of Golf conference and 59club’s Golf Industry’s Global Awards.
